Our Story Through the Decades

Founded in 1976, Immigrants Alliance has spent nearly five decades building bridges between cultures and empowering immigrant communities worldwide.

UN ECOSOC Consultative Status Since 1989

1976
Hugo Edward Juarez founds the Immigrants Foundation with the vision of helping immigrant families achieve their aspirations and improving positive intercultural relations.
Early 1980s
The Foundation builds a unified Immigrants Alliance with leaders of umbrella organizations from many cultural communities.
1986
The 1st International Cultures Conference, Passport to the World, and Immigrants Parade are held in lower Manhattan β€” commemorating the 100th anniversary of the Statue of Liberty.
1989
The Immigrants Foundation receives NGO Consultative Status with the U.N. Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) β€” unanimously endorsed by all member governments.
Early 2000s
The Immigrants Building at 7 West 44th Street, corner of 5th Avenue in Manhattan, is established.
2010
Programming interrupted due to external challenges. Despite obstacles, the International Cultures Celebration and Immigrants Parade continued without interruption.
2025
The 40th Immigrants Parade marches through Midtown Manhattan.
2026
41st Immigrants Parade (June 13). Launch of SEED (September 15). A new era of global empowerment begins.
