IMMIGRANTS FOUNDATION:
"A History of Empowering Dreams, Celebrating Diversity and Resilience"
Immigrants Foundation was founded in 1973 by Hugo Edward Juarez when he was 23 years old. Its mission was to help immigrant families and children achieve their goals in their new country and foster positive intercultural relations.
In the early 1980s, the Foundation established the Immigrants Alliance, bringing together leaders from various cultural communities to address common issues and create special programs and events. The Alliance met regularly to address common issues and organize the 1st International Cultures Conference at the United Nations, Passport to the World, and in 1986, the Immigrants Parade, commemorating the 100th anniversary of the Statue of Liberty.
In 1989, it was recognized as a UNITED NATIONS non-governmental organization (NGO) with consultative status with ECOSOC, thanks to unanimous approval from all member governments. This was a significant milestone in its mission to advocate for immigrant rights, reflecting its global impact.

In the early 2000s, nearly 30 years after its establishment, the Immigrants Alliance realized its dream of providing a permanent home for all immigrants. This was achieved by purchasing the world’s first 'Immigrants Building' as an immigrant's heritage, located at 7W 44th St, at the corner of 5th Avenue in Manhattan.
In 2010, faced by financial adversity, forced the disruption of its sustainable programs and the sale of its Immigrants Building. Despite these challenges, the institution persevered as a prominent UNITED NATIONS NGO-ECOSOC institution, ensuring the continuation of its socio-cultural programs, including the International Cultures Celebration and the Immigrants Parade, thereby strengthening its commitment to unity in diversity.
Today, these events stand as symbols of community strength and resilience, celebrating the rich tapestry of immigrant experiences—a celebration of the people, by the people, for the people.
INTERNATIONAL CULTURES MISSION: “Uniting Cultures and Empowering Cultural Communities”
The International Cultures Mission is a coordinating body established by the Immigrants Foundation with the aim of promoting positive intercultural relations. As a brainchild of the Immigrants Foundation, the International Cultures Mission serves as a platform for fostering understanding, cooperation, and appreciation among different cultural communities.
One of its primary initiatives is the sponsorship and organization of the annual Immigrants Parade and Celebration. These events bring together people from diverse backgrounds to celebrate the rich tapestry of immigrant experiences and to showcase the contributions of immigrant communities to society. Through cultural performances, exhibitions, and other activities, the Immigrants Parade and Celebration promote unity, diversity, and mutual respect.
The International Cultures Mission plays a crucial role in coordinating and facilitating these events, ensuring that they serve as inclusive and welcoming spaces for all. By promoting dialogue and cooperation among different cultural groups, the International Cultures Mission strives to build bridges, break down barriers, and promote a more harmonious and interconnected society.
